Sunday session 5.2.15

April is here and despite a few wishful thinkers believing the dry season to have arrived early I am here to tell you it has not. It’s Humid and cloudy out in fact and for all the idiots who took off camping this weekend I’m sure it was a very uncomfortable time in your sweaty tents. I worked all weekend trying to finish some projects and YES I am bitterly jealous of everyone who went away and had fun. I did see a dead dragonfly on my bonnet yesterday so the dry is coming, just not yet so there will be plenty of time to go camping later this year when I am not working so much.

Ok- things I read and liked this week:

A beautiful home feature in my old stomping ground- Brissy.

a classic old Fritz Hansen chair has been reborn into something quite hipsterish. Is that a word? It is, I’m nearly  sure.

“In celebration of the re-launch of the original wooden legged version of Arne Jacobsen’s 1957 Grand Prix chair, the furniture brand Fritz Hansen has teamed up with Italian designer Diego Grandi and famed Italian tattoo artist Pietro Sedda to create nine tattooed chairs (two in leather and seven in wood). The concept behind the collaboration was devised by Grandi who, as the project’s art director, created a narrative in which the graceful forms of the chairs would to be treated as if human and the embellishments added as defining marks – tattoos – to its ‘skin’. The result is a melding of the over half-century-old designs of Jacobsen with the contemporary tattoo art of Sedda, linking great talents of the past and present – in celebration of the Grand Prix’s launch into the future. ”

Also I came across an old an interview with a Designer Luca Nichetto who seems to still be kicking around doing shit that I would like to be doing- like designing products and being the very fucking awesome creative director for some company or another. If I didn’t like him so much for his work (and his quotes) I would probably despise him.

Another random bit of design goss I came across while design browsing – yes that’s a real thing and something that I estimate I spend around 18 hours a week doing for clients or products or just getting lost in the rabbit hole that is google …but I digress …is JLo’s new home! Now I’m not a JLo fan in any form and it was purely by chance that I happened upon her new home on Elledecor’s site but the house caught my eye. It’s BIG and a little bit lovely in a girly timber and white way.  If you are interested you can see more of it here.

That’s it from me this week, I have 2 interior colour consultations to finish, plus an exterior one and a kitchen design concept that is half done all on the go this long weekend – No rest for the wicked. (insert evil grin) Tomorrow I have set aside a day of fishing with the fella out at Bynoe harbour followed by a few beers in the sun- Wishing you a happy happy easter Darwin style!

This will be me – the easter sloth after a day in the sun, a few drinks and far too much cheese for one small girl.
