Founder Haley Roddy (now Haley Bell) has been a long term fixture on the NT design and fashion scene, writing about design and providing style advice for various publications, Promoting local events and trend forecasting Australia wide whilst simultaneously designing spaces and writing for Darwinlife Magazine while traveling far and wide attending exhibitions, furniture fairs and expos to stay at the forefront of design. Haley now brings this all to you in a new format - an experimental artist cooperative bringing artist, Trade and consumer together in an online format ‘The Design Destination’ alongside her Lady Darwin services.

“When it comes to creativity I think you either have a natural affinity for it, or you don’t.
My approach to Interior Design is informed by a combination of many things that make up the creative energy I am proud of. I have a mix of formal training but it is the years of travel, learning from real life industry players and drawing on raw ability and creative flair that I value the most and what I believe sets me apart from others in this industry. I truly live and breathe my work and consider myself an eternal student in the way of the world. Ever changing, growing and evolving my talent and seeking out new creative ventures.
The important bits: Born and bred in Darwin I was lucky enough to be blessed with a strong artistic family background. My early life was spent surrounded by culture and peppered with travel which has provided immeasurable creative energy that is essential to not only a career, but a life in Design. I have worked in the design industry since 2003 learning from many people and travelling the world attending design expos, shows and any junket I could get a ticket to basically.
I have been rearranging furniture, experimenting with colour or generally doing something arty my whole life. I enjoy working alongside Artists, Architects, Developers, Builders and DIY home renovators alike but mostly I just love sticky beaking into peoples spaces and helping them make them better.
I believe that our surroundings have the capacity to significantly influence our mood and overall wellbeing so good design therefore enhances the quality of our lives.
I am also very passionate about living a positive, enthusiastic life and I really think this is reflected in my work.
The name ‘Lady Darwin’ originates from friends and colleagues in the industry referring to “The lady from Darwin” when I travelled and is also a tribute to my personal endeavour to preserve some of the old-fashioned grace and elegance that is often missing in modern life.
