Sunday session 31.1.16

What a gorgeous morning here in Darwin! Today I awoke to the pouring rain outside and have been sitting out on my patio watching it falling through the trees washing everything clean. I think my little garden is so beautiful in the rain and full of colour inspiration.

This week I have slowed the pace of my work as it was all getting a bit hectic there the first few weeks of this month and I have been feeling much more inspired now that I don’t have so many deadlines to work towards. I have achieved much, but with minimal effort so I think I am on a creative roll again. Yeah, winning!

I have researched some new products  (like these stunning pieces by ‘The last workshop’) to use for upcoming projects and I have revelled in revisiting other products that I had known about but not yet had the chance to use.

My own work aside though… Are you a creative type who feels creatively frustrated or like you don’t have the chance to fully excel at your chased creative field? I sometimes feel like that, mostly when I am bogged down with work at the commercial firm I work for. Well I stumbled across this website ‘Studio mothers’ – Check it out you might like it, I have since subscribed to this little community of mothers (and others) who encourage each other to pursue their creative dreams- always a good thing.

I read about this funky restaurant in Mexico while I was researching …or trying unsuccessfully to research whether having real animal skulls in your home creates bad energy or fucks with your ‘chi’ or the alignment of your chakras or any of that crap .. (Yes I added an animal scull to my art collection, did you already guess that?) Anyway so I am interested in what anyone knows about this, Are there any superstitions about having sculls in home? You know, the kind of weird rules like “you can’t have peacock feathers in your home unless you place them in a corner with a mirror” that my Nanna always drilled into me. Is that a real thing by the way? Let me know your thoughts?

Personally I love what they have done in this space using bones but others might find it creepy.

I viewed some lovely shower/ bathroom design ideas here and became painfully aware of how desperate my own bathroom is for a renovation. It will have to wait though as I have other peoples design to do and no time for my own.

I came across this most amazing of tiny houses while ‘design stalking’ and so began my love affair with Austin Maynard architects:

That’s enough from me, it’s still early on this sunday and the rain has stopped pouring and is now kind of lightly drizzling so I have eggs to cook and can smell fresh bread wafting from the kitchen.

Yesterday I went on bush adventures and this has made me lazy today so I think it will be a perfect sunday.
