Sunday session 30.3.14

It’s Sunday morning and the start of a rather bleak looking Darwin day as its just started to rain. I knew it was going to rain today as I spent a considerable amount of time yesterday fussing in the garden to get my irrigation working again after not using it for months during the wetseason (when it rains every single day for about 3 months) and while I was sweating and swearing and thinking how much i do not enjoy working in the dirt I thought to myself -you know what, i bet it fucking rains tomorrow after all this work to get water to the plants. And NOW yes, it is raining.

I find that god (whatever you conceive him or her to be) often mocks me like this. Like the one day a week  when I finally mop the floor spotless and EVERY  SINGLE TIME the hound comes running through the entire house with muddy footprints ..he doesn’t do this any other day of the week but guaranteed the day i mop he decides its time to dig a hole then walk the dirt through the house. Or when i wash the sheets and put nice fresh ones on the bed, stand back to admire my work and in walks said hound dog…he looks at me looking at the bed and thinks to himself  ” oh nice she’s made the bed for me” and up he jumps on the (very temporarily)  spotless white bedspead, little bits of dirt flinging everywhere from his paws as he does a circle while deciding which side to settle on to for a fleeting moment before i can reach him with my outstretched fingers.

Moving along from my day to day life here’s some stuff I’ve been looking at recently:

I had a client who liked a fabric i showed them called stripes bu Paul Smith so I am doing a piece of furniture for them in this upholstery which got me to thinking about another fabric by the same man that i have always wanted to use in my home since coming across it in 2010. It was designed by Paul Smith for Maharam‘s Digital Project. “Slow Exposure Stripe is a photo collage of London’s Brick Lane at night. By manipulating the camera’s shutter speed, the neon signs that line this bustling street are transformed into vibrant brushstrokes. ” its pretty cool as far as I’m concerned and it will tie in nicely with another of Pauls smiths range that I have on a pair of cushions on the lounge see further below.

I found these chairs on a blog that i really like called Cush and Nooks that is worth a look. They are lovely anyway, i think the fabric is designers guild

The blog that I am currently browsing is this one. Which then led me down the internet rabbit hole and onto one called Bleubird blogspot which lead me to the most lovely wedding movie that you can watch here .  I would love a wedding very similar to this one, a pretty, homely affair with lots of flowers in a natural setting full of family, friends and laughter. wedding image

The wedding video has prompted my own wedding browsing and thinking about what type of wedding i would actually like, I’ve always had a rough idea about what i like and taken mental notes but have not had a set goal or collection of ideas down on paper (or blog) form so this is all about to change. 😉

A Swiss chalet that has been revamped caught my attention, read the full article on this place at Reborn

I have been immersed in a house (below) that isn’t my style at all but has me infatuated none the less for its homely style, I found it while browsing Domino magazine. Its formal stylings and colour palette are not like any work i have ever done, nor ever will I’d say …so don’t ask me to do it, yet i still find it very interesting. Take a look here.

That’s it from me this week, as always I looked at lots of other things, read countless other blogs and saved probably 50 images but forgot to store them here to share with you. I’ve been doing some more work to the walls of my home office so will get off my arse and photograph some stuff to show you. soon. Happy sunday! its stopped raining, the suns out again and i need to go and indulge my other passion..what to cook tonight and more importantly what wine to go with it.
