Sunday session 28.9.14

When will I learn that I can’t actually do everything despite the fact  that I think I can? This week I seem to have too many jobs on the go and I’m toying with the idea of taking on another interesting sounding rural project. I should just say no and finish what I’ve already started…but I probably won’t.

Years ago I read an interview with someone..an artist or architect I think it was who, when questioned about what made them so successful replied that rather than stick to the old saying of “don’t bite off more than you can chew” had decided that he/ she (I can’t remember now) would “just bite off as much as possible and then chew madly!” That interview has always stuck in my mind and I’m kind of trying that approach right now.

I am using this image as colour inspiration for an outdoor area I am working on. Don't you love geraniums? they don't grow here but I wish they did

Decoupage used to be one of my favourite things to do when I was little, I may just make it stylish again after seeing this chair

I fell in love with this timber, I am working on a job that will feature japanese blackened tables and this is the inspiration behind it. Now to find a timber with similar grain in it

What a chair right? I know! I’m not sure if this is going to work for an outdoor area using the colours as featured in the colour inspiration image earlier…but I really hope it does
I am having a little obsession with these alphabet stools. I may use one for a nursery I am working on actually

I revamped the home office last week and am thrilled with how much more space I have now despite not throwing out one SINGLE thing…hoarder? yeah maybe –  pics are still to come, even the fella commented on how good it looks and is happy that he can now nap on the day bed in there while I’m whittling away the hours. He seems to think I hide in there to drink wine, online shop in secret and just look at pictures in peace but I assure him I am in there ‘getting my creative genius on’. I am.

Now all of a sudden I have had a client ask me to design a workspace for them in a new home,  There are so many styles I am considering as the space is HUGE, Yes…I am so envious.

Wouldn't it be great to have a his and hers office like this..not the style I mean but the IDEA of a shared collaborative space- no more his bills on my desk amongst paperwork and fabric scraps and little paint samples and scribbles on scrpas of paper- love it
Wouldn’t it be great to have a his and hers office like this..not the style (which is quite hideous) but I mean but the IDEA of a joint collaborative space- but with separate desks- no more of HIS receipts and bills on MY desk amongst all the paperwork and fabric scraps and little paint samples and scribbles on scraps of paper- cos there isn’t enough room for ME in there let alone HIM too.

I visited an art college yesterday as my brother is learning screen printing for his clothing business and I was mesmerised by the printing layout tables here, aren’t they stunning? This is the result of years of printing – it is a work of art

Close up detail of the screen printing table, you could take this table apart and hang this piece on your wall, every time I look at it i see a different element- tropical and cheerful colours aren’t they? just beautiful! You can see more about the college where  I found this at on the below link

http://nungalinyacollege.wordpress.com/ and here’s a couple of other links worth a look: For design inspiration and clever ideas on small spaces  here  and for fashion inspiration as well as gorgeous things for the home (I get lost on this site quite often it is all so lovely) here.

That’s it from me for now, this is the motto I am rolling with this week 🙂
