Sunday session 26.10.14

Happy sunday to you! I am feeling great today as I smashed out a few projects yesterday in what turned out to be a MARATHON day of design and showrooms and paint picking and running generally around all over town because I fail to arrange clients by a suburb relevant order which would save me soooo  much time, time that I need to make up!… Yeah ok, this marathon day was also mostly due to my procrastination lasting the best part of the week as per usual but it’s sorted now so that is irrelevant now.

The weekend started fairly normal with my early morning Parap market shopping and chit chatting, then I had a few new clients to meet with and to fit into my day (cos you know- why not add more people to my neverending god-damn list when I can’t even keep up with the few that I’m already doing stuff for- right?) then it turned to chaos, followed by one of my moments of terror where I go “Oh my god how am I going to do this all today??- Haley you idiot!” but then I got stuck into it and you know what? it’s D O N E done. I will also share with you the funniest part of my day…  When I found fantastic colour inspiration in yoghurt. Yep. I was looking for the perfect colours for a client’s outdoor space I am revamping and nothing new or exciting was coming to me, so as I sat there all frustrated, about to give up for the day and move onto to something else I stared aimlessly into my tub of gippsland dairy blackberry & pomegranate twist yoghurt and you betcha, it came to me –  the perfect mix of colours right in my hand 😀 so now those colours are someones outdoor entertaining area, hope you like them. Genius, I know. (* I must point out this post is not sponsored in any way by Gippsland dairy but ‘you guys’ – who make yoghurt …. if you are reading this – I love your products and I am not averse to you sponsoring me in future as I have discovered good yogurt can do more than feed you, as noted above.)

This is some more of what I’ve been working on:

Floortiles example 1
I met a new client who is the youngest ‘new build’ client I’ve had so far, her new home will feature these gorgeous concrete look tiles with cool taupe- grey tones through the kitchen and fresh white paint
Exterior image idea (shale grey roof, gutters & garage, dune render
Dune render and shale grey roof is sooooo boring I am sure half the houses in Palmerston are this combo (as per this image) so I mixed things up a bit and came up with a trio of colours customised to blend with this clients interior finishes and I think it will stand out fro the others in the street (can’t tell you what this trio is or it wouldn’t be custom to my client now would it).

Some serious colour selecting has been going on this week to match with the beautiful photograph further below that I am hoping to do something pretty special with…more to come next week on that though once I’ve met with the photographer again and tweaked the colours.  Thinking greys, lilac and very soft greeny grey…

And of course the yoghurt inspired outdoor project that I mentioned earlier – this one is coming together just nicely. On a side note does anyone know if Pomegranates grow well in Darwin? that would be a nice addition to this project. Whilst I was researching ‘pomegranate coloured furniture’ (which, I might ad there is not much of available) I came across this little gem of a site for a textile designer in Melbourne called Pomegranate design.

I am trying to get my client to use this chair on their new deck, partly because it looks good with my pomegranate coloured wall behind it, and partly because I want to sit in it myself- it looks the perfect place to spend an afternoon.

That’s me for the day…for the week actually! HALLELUJAH! ;D I am off to sit by the pool at my local hangout – The Darwin skiclub.  Life is well and truly good, I hope it is for you too.  x
