Sunday session 24.8.14

This conceptual design brief wasn’t done by me it was done by Valmont design in Surry Hills who I don’t know and haven’t worked with but it has been given to me to reinterpret as I am a local designer, they had some very nice ideas but some that just wouldn’t work in Darwin so I am tweaking it and doing a new furniture schedule with new fabrics.

Hello sunday design lovers! This week I have been working on a commercial fit out that I want to share as it is a style I am really liking at the moment, It is for a hotel reception area and I have been give a design brief that I have interpreted to require hints of tropical casual mixed with a bit of balmy bahamas white cane and tropical leaf prints but with just a touch of sophisticated Hampton’s nautical niceness. Wow did I really just mesh those styles all together ? Yep I sure did and it’s going to look a treat when I’ve finished just you wait and see.

This beautiful home on an island 30 miles south of Cape Cod, Massachusettshas (which I have NEVER even looked at before but that I now ADORE!) had me enthralled, it is such a spunky space that I think I would be very happy in despite the fact that it has very little colour in it, you can read the full article on Designsponge and see more beautiful shots of it. 16Paula-500x751 3Paula-500x751 6Paula-500x751 5Paula-500x751 2Paula-500x751 9Paula-500x751

Some sites that I came across that are worth a look are Twig&Moss “whimsy inspired by nature” which is so full of lovely things that I wasted at least 2 hours clicking away at it the first time I came across it, in fact I love this site so much I have decided that when we get married i will have a gift registry with these guys. Check out their instagram page too.

Whilst writing my monthly design article for a magazine and browsing hundreds of scandanavian homes as inspiration I found this cute and happy little blog Scandicoast that made me smile.

Also for the foodies in all of us take a look at Yardbird restaurant in Hong Kong- I am so disappointed that I didn’t know about this little gem when i was there a few weeks ago as it is furnished by a designer whose stuff I really like- Sean Dix  so I will have to check it out next time I am over that way whenever that may be. lead-image18

Happy happy weekend to you! I am off for some quiet sunday sippers around a mates pool to soak up some Darwin dry season sun.  xQuotation-Sara-Strain-dancing-dance-best-morning-friend-happiness-Meetville-Quotes-44146
