“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us” * JRR Tolkien chaos quote

This week I have had a sense of chaos over me that I haven’t been able to shake and it has had me doing circles in my work. I think I have a few to many projects on the go in my head and none of them are really  getting any closer to completion so I need to stop and reassess how I am going to proceed or I will never get anything done.

I found some interesting new sites (below) that have had me all enthused and inspired and I have been toying with the idea of adding an online store to my website to sell some of the beautiful ranges of fabrics, homewares, furniture even that I get offered to me every now and then, also the lovely local artwork that is everywhere in my little home town of Darwin,  feel like someone should be better promoting all of the clever ladies that I know so I guess that someone may as well be me. Yes there you have it, I have JUST made up my mind. I will add an online store to my site very soon.

The Assembly Hall for design inspiration and an online shop with some interesting things, The Happy Home I just like this blog as it’s a good insight into a “creative type” mothers everyday life dealing with work and raising  kids whilst still doing what she loves. When we have children I intend to kick some serious design arse and blog all about it (to keep myself sane ) and hopefully I will have the time to finally make enough money to not have to work for someone else as well as run my own business which is just hard sometimes. My Sentimental Jamboree has had my scrolling through images of far off places and glimpse into someone else’s life which is always interesting to me, it has reignited my love of photography. When (did you notice that choice of word, not IF but WHEN) I have more time I will take this up and stop snapping daily shots of the Darwin sunsets on my iPhone.

Heres what has had me inspired this week:

A gorgeous home featuring lots of warm timber, a black wall (my favourite), plenty of pattern and texture on a polished concrete floor, a touch of soft pink- I love this space it feels very chilled out and liveable.

An interesting space that drew me in and made me want to visit. I like the track lighting giving an almost gallery style to an otherwise really warm room, the turkish style rug mixed with timber makes it feel really cosy on the timber floor. Artwork scattered around gives you a sense of who occupies this home then the pops of blue colour are quit unexpected but work well with the blue ocean backdrop I am working on a space for a client with this Nanimarquina “Estambul” rug in it, a lovely monochromatic piece

That’s it from me in my garden this sunday, Today is my beautiful mothers birthday so we are going to celebrate in the sun. I made her a print of a Rebecca Cool painting of women dancing in a field as it reminded me of us when I saw it. My mother is a happy artist soul who never stops chattering. I feel so lucky to have inherited some of her talent and am forever grateful that she and my dad brought my brother and I up to see that ‘normal’ is boring.
